This Sci-Fi trailer was shot as a camera test of the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K that was sent to Directors Duo as a prototype before it was officially released. Directors Duo is one of the selected Beta testers for Blackmagic Design. After the successful campaign Directors Duo shot for Blackmagic in 2018, they again asked Christopher Schlierf in 2019 to come up with a new film project to support the launch of the new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K. The camera targeted independent filmmakers and professionals. So Christopher Schlierf came up with the idea to shoot a cinematic sci-fi movie trailer to show the camera’s capabilities. To convince and motivate independent filmmakers to create genre driven work, they limited themselves to producing the Sci-Fi trailer with nothing but the stuff they had around them. The film was shot in Christopher Schlierf's private apartment and around urban areas in Munich. Everything was prepped with art department elements DIY style. Directors Duo then enhanced the shots with motion graphics, 3D elements and matte paintings to tell the story of a futuristic set up. By using cinematic lenses, genre driven production values and art design, filmic cinematography and immersive storytelling with state-of-the-art visual effects, the result was beyond Blackmagic Design’s expectations and helped Blackmagic Design to impress customers and industry observers alike. The buzz about the trailer was so high that the spectators started discussions about the release of the movie in the trailer, as they thought it was a real Hollywood production.
