In 2018, Christopher Schlierf had the pleasure to work on a cross branding commercial campaign for Amazon Prime. This included the successful game publisher Ubisoft and its multi million dollar franchise “Assassin’s Creed”. The campaign should emphasise Amazon Prime Now’s new fast delivery service and simultaneously feature the brand new release of Ubisoft’s blockbuster game 'Assassin’s Creed - Origins'.
Christopher Schlierf was the director and creative director on this crucial project that needed to excite two different target audiences: The gamers and potential Amazon prime users. The director tried to come up with a thrilling story that intertwined both worlds perfectly in a mesmerising visual journey through time. The unique visual style of the concept was bold and full of cinematic epic scenes to feature the breathtaking scenery of the game.
Christopher Schlierf was chosen because they had a well-known penchant for creating larger-than-life productions from the ground up on a shoestring budget. Despite the very tight budget constraints, they invented techniques to make the commercial appear like a million dollar budget production with epic landscapes, stunning VFX, amazing cinematography and a very high production value in every department. Christopher Schlierf's knowledge in cinematography and state of the art techniques allowed him to film panoramic scenes in Morocco all on his own with only one actor in a precise replica costume of the game’s hero. These scenes elevated the commercial to a whole new level. Every shot was precisely perfected in every detail by their direction and even led to a nomination for ‘Best Cinematography’ in 2018 for the German Commercial Award. Where they were in the same category with Academy Award winning Hollywood DOP and Star Wars / Dune cinematographer Greig Fraser.
